View Full Version : How do you make Sunglow and junglow boas
What do you have to breed to create Sunglow boas? Someone posted a hypo jungle boa and received a comment saying "look up Sunglow n junglow boas that's what you can make with this. So I guess I'm really asking if you breed an albino with a hypo jungle do you get a Sunglow boa? I would love to hear the different ways to make Sunglow n junglow boas.

Sunglow is albino x hypo, and junglow is albino x hypo x jungle. So as long as both parents have the albino gene, and at least one parent has hypo or jungle genes you can make sunglows or jungles.
There's a lot of ways you can make sunglows and jungles, it would be tedious to list them all out here.
So if I breed an albino boa with a hypo jungle that will give me a junglow? There's albino x hypo there and jungle so I would think that would make a junglow. I would also have to be working with Kahl x kahl or sharp x sharp to get the visual results correct?

Only if the Hypo is het albino, it's fairly simple look at it this way, The most limited requirements to breed a Junglow:
(at-least)One parent needs the Hypo gene.
(at-least)One parent needs the Jungle gene.
Both parents need the same Albino gene.
That's basically it, if you check all those traits you have a possibility of getting Junglows in the litter IF all those genes happen to be given to the same baby. It is not a given, there is still chance involved. (The less genes the parents have, the smaller your chance at Junglows)

Im finding this sooo helpful. I was wondering what to get to pair with my coral sunglow albino. This helped narrow it down. I think Im going to look for a motley albino or at least het for albino.
Great question and great answers!

Yup, and the reason both parents have to carry the albino gene is because it's recessive. An animal must be homozygous, or carry two albino genes, for the animal to be a visual albino. Hypo and jungle are dominant or incomplete dominant respectively, so only one gene is required, and when an animal has two genes it's referred to as "super x." Super hypos can only be proven through breeding, not too sure on the jungles.

That would be great. I know nothing about the bao morphs now. Trying to learn. I wish there was a genetic calculator for them like there is on worldofballpythons.com

Pick up only lol
Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize you said both have to have the albino gene. I seen it when I looked back at your first reply. Now I get it. It is simple. So then sunglows are really just albino boas in a sense. Or hybino really. The funny thing is I already have a pair of Sunglow motley boas and I have a female junglow motley. I was just curious how sunglows were made. Any good suggestions on what to breed my junglow motley with? I've been keeping King snakes n milks n rat snakes for many many years but this is my first year with boas. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
