I haven't been on here for awhile, not too sure why. I thought I'd give somewhat of an update. I can't even remember who I introduced last on here.
Anyway, back in August, my collection was hit with a protozoan virus (entamoeba invadens). The vet and I are guessing it came from my aquatic turtles. Basically, I used an aquarium that had a turtle in it previously, didn't wash it (stupid mistake, didn't know better :( ) and put a snake in it. I did the other dumb mistake of cleaning all my enclosures without washing hands in between. It's something I've done for years with no issues, but if I had been doing it, I wouldn't have caused so much damage.
I ended up losing 11 snakes total. My two corn snakes, three milk snakes, my rat snake, bull snake, ball python, hognose, and my perfect coastal carpet python who I've shared quite a few times. Some of these snakes I had since they were very tiny, it was a really difficult time. It all happened so quickly and the necropsy results took 10 days, but luckily we were able to save the remaining snakes just in time. I have some fighters.
I have 7 of my snakes who are doing great after the whole ordeal, and I've added 2 royal pythons into my collection once everything was settled, disinfected, and bleached down to the last spot. One of them was a royal that someone was trying to get rid of as soon as they could, and the second royal was one who I had given to a friend three years ago. She lost interest so asked if I wanted him back.
Anyway, that's about all. I'll try to update some pictures of my gang and post around a bit. :)
