I'm finally having balls too! Well, at that moment one, but I'm pretty sure that there will be more in future.

He's a 2015 Firefly, I paid for him today and will get him in the next few days, because now I'm sick and can't ride to get him :( The pics are not the best but I'm super happy, haha! He's early christmas present from my dad and boyfriend, and let me tell you that my dad was afraid of snakes at first and now is having his very own corn and want a ball too in future.

I asked about everything that I thought about, and the breeder lives near my town, so the little one won't have to travel too much. He will live in a tub, as the breeder is keeping his snakes in racks and I don't want to change too much and stress him out.

Thank you all! :)

And yeah, I'll give him a week to settle, then feeding and only then handling... it will be hard time of waiting, haha! :D

Any more then 2 and you should seek medical attention ;)

Nice choice though, really like his colours. Hopefully he will be a good boy.

There will be more than 2 for sure, my bf wants more garter snakes, I want japanese rats and more balls, and we both like corns, so sooner or later we'll find something nice for sure too! :D

And Manslaughter, I really like yellow&black snakes, that's why I choosed this one (and now is the great time of year when every breeder wants to sold the last babies and the prices are soo cheap even in higher morphs!). I guess that next will be normal female as I like their colors too.

Well, here are the few pics when we got him, now he's in his tub and needs to settle down. Unfortunately the tub is a little too small, so I guess we'll need to switch it in the next few weeks. The owner was also having super nice cinnamon girl, really active with monster feeding response, but in the end that little guy won, haha! :)

He started to be very active the last few nights, I guess he's comfortable enough to look around. Unfortunately we ran out of mices and we can't order them until tomorrow, so all the snakes must wait till next friday to have their meal. I decided to try to open the tub of this little one yesterday night and see if he will be willing to go to my hands. Here are few pics, it was really short handling session (around 5 minutes maybe) as I don't want to stress him too much before frist meal, but he was really calm and curious most of that time.

The good thing is also that we bought a pair of pygmy mices few days ago, and my bf unfortunately left their box next to snake tubs for a while. This little guys went crazy feeling the scent of mices, so I know to try to scent the first few f/t. Seeing his reaction he should eat it with no problems then!

I know that they are rather crappy, but I don't want to hold him at day yet :D

And one "snakes loves tubes" from the day when we moved him to bigger rub:

Albert, thank you! I'm planning to get him one of the females that are often found in my country, are in good prices and will make a really nice offsprings... At that moment I have 4 different morphs I would like to get for him, and from what I know I'll end up with all of them, haha! :)

Well done, the fact that English is not your first language makes it so much more funny. Many people would make this statement not realizing the hidden innuendo associated with it.

Thank you! :D I read a lot of books in English so I can understand some more "deeper" means... but at the same time I lack a lot in grammar part as I don't always know which time to use (past times in English are soo hard). And there is a lot of more "technical" words that I don't know as they are not often used in books.

I agree it amazes me how many people who grow up learning english in school who still dont know proper uses of there the're and their. I love when people are giving others a hard time on facebook about spelling then misuse those. I always call them out on it too lol.

You're too advanced as many are still working on you, your and you're. Baby steps have to crawl before you walk. It's the instant messaging/texting age. All that stuff just slows you down. Now it seems a lot of ppl lyk 2 talk lyk dis, cuz it's shortr nd fastr.

Today he decided to throw his water bowl and was swimming in wet paper towels... so I handled him for a few minutes while cleaning his tub. Ofc I can't go off the chance to take some more pics so here we are:

I'm really in love with this little guy, but I hope that he'll be a good boy and I won't be forced to handle him again until feeding day... we still are waiting for our mices to arrive and most of our snakes (the one that aren't in shed) are already wandering all the time looking for the food.

I tried to give him f/t mice today, he was striking and coiling but didn't want to eat :( We'll give him a week and will try scenting and braining next time.

Double check the temperature of the rat too. I am new to ball pythons but one thing that I have quickly learned is that while my colubrids will take room temperature food, my ball requires very warm food.

Sylphie
12-05-15, 09:03 AM
Ha! I was making f/t hopper for our blizzard corn who likes it realy hot and scented, and I decided to try giving it to Klusek first... he striked, coiled and ate it without problems! I'm super happy! :)

I'm soo proud, especially that after taking pics I noticed his eyes starts to be clouded a little.

He's eating scented hot (but not boiled) f/t mices once every 14 days. I tried to feed him once every week, but well, he's refusing, so I guess he knows better how much he needs. And after moving him to a small glass cube he's more like a typical "pet rock" ball python, so he seems to be happy here :D

Sylphie

"But... but Klusek, ball pythons are pet rocks... that's not how pet rocks works, you shouldn't be climbing every day, you know?... *he falls*... AND thats why rocks don't climb!"
He's soo sweet when every day around 17 he start's to wander and climb around. Then after few hours he's off to being sleeping ball again.

(Excuse me a little messy glass!)

Hahaha, treaux, that pic is epic :D

trailblazer, yeah, he seems to love climbing, when I'll move him to bigger tank he'll definitely get some branches to climb there.

Sasha2, to be honest I like most of the ball morhps, it's just that he was easily avaiable for me (the breeder lives in my town), he was rather cheap, and he ate f/t. Ahh, and he's black&yellow, that matters too!

I would love to get him a nice low pied female someday, but they are a little too expensive for me still. Looking how fast the prices are droping I"ll need to wait for 2-3 years only, so that's not bad.

Sylphie
01-30-16, 12:14 PM
I'm super suprised with his feeding responses recently. I guess that all our colubrids are a "bad" example for him, as he's now looking for new food 2-3 days after feeding (so, we're feeding him every 4-5 days), and when I'm near his viv he's all hunting and fierce :D I guess that I'll need to tap train him like a retic soon if he'll keep that attitude with growing  I'm really glad that we decided to buy him, he's like rat snake in a body of a ball, haha!

BIG NEWS

Life is fun sometimes :D Maybe some of you remember that we were forced to rehome our first beloved ball python because he was very picky eater and we were too inexperienced... Today on one of the snake forums I noticed ad with rack system and two snakes, one boa and one ball python. That ball was the same birth date as our first one, so I checked the pics, and bingo, that's the one! I wrote to the owner and he said that she's eating like a champ now and so... we'll get her tomorrow! :D I'm super super happy!

She's sooo big! And still sweet as a pie, I can touch her everywhere and she's like "fine, if this makes you happy". She's now in quarantine with another snake we got from her owner (I'll make thread for him when I got some decent pics), and I hope that she'll eat fine after a week.

We definitely will try to pair them when they'll be ready! And we also need to find some new balls to at to the collection in future too.
