Please I'd this snake ...we seen a few in the yard and I'm hoping they are not poisonous.Thanks for any help in advance.

They aren't venomous. That is a harmless garter snake, nothing to worry about. :)

Looks like a checkered garter snake (Thamnophis marcianus) to me.

THANKS...I figured it was a garter snake..but was confused because all the pics of garter snakes i'v seen they have a stripe down their back.I live in North Florida btw.

It appears to be a Thamnophis sirtalis similis, Blue Striped Garter Snake.

Based on the location I am going to have to agree with Jerry. It is a pretty one at that, I don't know if I have seen one with such a clean pattern.

There are many different species of gartersnakes, each with different colours and patterns to them, so there's a lot of variation. I agree that what you've got there is Thamnophis sirtalis similis. Very pretty! You should enjoy the colour they bring to your garden; they're completely harmless.
