When I first started keeping a roach colony it would freak me out to put my hand in and if they touched me I screamed like a tiny little girl. These days I'm much more fine with it...I don't really want them crawling on my hand but I can at least move things around and not jump up and down while flinging my hand around when they touch me:rolleyes: I also like moving things around so they run around making that scurrying sound because I'm weird. And I think it's interesting when they swarm the food I put in the bin instead of getting the creeps.
It probably depends on how bad your fear is too. If it's just a generally dislike and you find them disgusting then yeah you probably will get used to them. If it's a crazy fear like mine for spiders then maybe not.

It's possible. However you might want to find someone who owns roaches first and check them out. Maybe they can help with your fear. Hissing roaches are the coolest!

Dubias are great because they can't climb smooth surfaces or fly. So get a deep rubbermaid or sterilite tub and you won't have many, if any, escapes.

I had a pretty big aversion to them at first, mainly the adults but they aren't that bad really so I do think you'll get used to them. If your animals will eat them, they are great. Unfortunately, none of my animals really care for them and they rarely are taken.

My wife still wont touch them or feed them off. All of her frogs, toads and lizards love them.

Oh roaches.....I have some pet hissers and they are fun. Even the "ew, bugs" crowd at Thanksgiving enjoyed them! (not during dinner though lol). Now Dubias are pretty gross, I don't mind bugs much but they have that cockroach scuttle. They will cling to your hands for dear life as well and you have to brush them off. Ick. I personally get kind of creeped out by them but have been able to deal with it. My tree frogs just demolish them so that is fun to watch.
