Hello!

Does anyone know of any locality specific breeders in Canada? Although I think different morphs look nice I am really looking for a pure bred (or pure bred looking) island BCI or central american BCI.

Most of the ads I have found in Canada are simply labled "BCI" with the snakes morph/het.... I can't be the only one who wants to know if the snake for sale is a Colombian, C.A, island, etc..? Or is it that most breeders don't really know what they have and just generically call it a bci?

This is the response I received from a breeder when I asked what sex/locale her young boas she had for sale were: "No unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to have them sexed. They would be bci tho they have some really flashy tails the mother for sure is bci" ...

The only legal way I can own a boa in my city is if the adult size of the boa is under 2M (6.5ft) so would like to find a either a male island or central american boa... seemingly easier said then done! Any advice would be great!

I'd try contacting Nagy reptiles. I bought a male baby bci from them few weeks ago. I don't know the locale but dad is about 5.5ft and momwas about 6.5ft. So I'm pretty sure he won't reach the 6ft mark or much more.

Nagy is great. Fantastic people. Corey Woods also has smaller boas (nics and hog island).

As for the locale issue. Most people forget that not everyone has been around for awhile and has the same knowledge base they do. Most morphs came from the Colombian boa (BCI). As well as Central American countries like Honduras, Nicaraugua (however you spell that) etc.

Otherwise most people will label their snakes by locale. Like Caulker Cay, Hog Island or etc. Keep a look out in the classified sites.

Henry Piorun is located in BC and has a good collection. He's usually pretty helpful, with any questions you may have.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I did end up finding something pretty interesting in my own area which is nice since shipping is so expensive! I haven't picked this guy up yet but I'm thinking about it. The breeder says he is a Sonoran boa het leopard but I can't find any pictures of Sonoran boas that look like this... What do you guys think? Maybe it's not a Sonoran?
