I'm not sure if this is the right spot but seemed the best fit.

I need a new hygrometer for my crested gecko planted tank currently being setup. I've used zilla temp/hygro which on my PVC cages has worked fine to date, but have gone through 2 in this tank with a misting system. The hygrometer stops reading correctly and is about 20% above reality. Now this won't have the same misting frequency or duration as my previous vine snake cage but I'm getting tired of replacing hygrometers every few weeks. What are some reliable hygrometers that can handle misting?

I use a product similar to this:
Taylor, Wireless IO Thermometer, 91756 at The Home Depot - Mobile (http://m.homedepot.com/p/Taylor-Wireless-IO-Thermometer-91756/203771315/)

Don't know about that model per se but the unit I have has a reasonably durable outdoor sensor and it is nice that it tracks highs/lows for temp and humidity within a 24 hour period. Also, mine has only gone through 2 sets of AA batteries in 5 or 6 years.

If your hygrometer sensor is directly exposed to your mister it will probably not function well ever . Can you shield the sensor in some way from direct exposer to your mist/spray . The sensor needs to be exposed to the inside atmosphere in the enclosure but not in direct contact with actual water spray . Think on the lines of one of those cages that thermostats get locked so u cant adjust them . But on a smaller basis just need to allow flow across sensor with out it being wetted down .
