Received my first BP today. It is going to be hard to leave this guy alone for a week... Got some pics a couple hours after arrival. He had a productive day, spilling his water and shedding.

Close, lesser mojave. I like how the lesser gene seems to create the whiter BELs.

I had a similar thought, how about I buy a pair of unrelated lessers and in 3 or 4 short years I can have my white snake. I decided that this was the better path for me.

Looks great. BP's arent my favorites despite having 3. But this by far my favorite morph and expect to produce on next spring. Great pickup!

My little BEL is still doing great. Hasn't missed a meal, even when he was in shed. Very inquisitive guy, tolerates handling well.
I vended at my local reptile show last Sunday and somehow managed to find the time to get myself in trouble. So, meet my second BP, a female butter.

Hoping for some pretty BEL babies in 3 years or so.

Beautiful! I prefer the butter personally, but both really good looking animals!

I definitely know how you feel on that one. when i got my jcp i found it difficult to let her get accustomed first so you can bet i was straight onto holding her once the week was up :) by the way your lesser mojave bp is an absolute beauty of a snake :)

Amazing additions and looking very good at that! Pristine coloration and patterning in the butter female. Feed them well and keep them healthy. Congrats!

I didn't know that I liked butters until I saw this one in person. I was actually leaning towards a female mystic; it was a pragmatic desire, my only BELs with that combo would be lesser mystics and the mojave would create the potions. Now I should have lesser butters and mojave butters but will have a tough time telling the difference. But the butter is so pretty...
Tomorrow is feeding day so I'm hoping for a positive result. I stayed away from BPs due to their famed feeding issues but if things continue to go swimmingly then I'm in trouble...

Woah, I've never really like all white snakes, but that one. Beautiful! On my wish list now! :)

Feeding day and everyone ate with just minor hiccups. The BEL grabbed his rat in its middle and it must have cooled too much in his coils because he decided to not eat it. Reheated it, got him to grab the nose, and that was that.
Was a tiny bit concerned about the butter as the breeder had it eating live mice. Took a little toying with a f/t rat but she ate it.

I moved up a feeder size for my BEL last night. I had to remove and reheat the rat a couple times because my BEL had trouble figuring out how to eat it. On the last try my daughter insisted on helping and she got him to grab the rat by its nose.
I'll weigh him tomorrow but I was thinking about moving him from his 15 qt to a 28 qt. Thoughts?

As far as I know, butter lessers and butter mojaves will look the same as any other BEL. I don't know of anyone personally who's had both in the same clutch so you might be able to discover a difference.

I would keep him in the same bin until he's more of a beast at eating. It won't hurt him to be in a smaller bin for an extra few weeks. It's better than the alternative of moving him to a bigger bin and going off of food.

Thanks. I weighed him and he's only 240g. I guess that I'm still getting used to the enclosure/size ratio for these guys.

Your BEL is looking great Chair. Was he empty when you weighed him in at 240g? If not, that weight won't be accurate. I usually weigh my snakes after they've evacuated their last meals or the day before a feeding.

He just ate Friday so his weight is probably 20g or so high. But he's nowhere near the 400-500g recommended as the signal for a bigger tub. But thanks, I am really enjoying him.
Very nice snakes! I love that butter :)
