Well, we started rebuild our tank in the wall. The dimensions are 150x30x60hcm (59x11x24h inch)... and here are the pics in-progress.
First we tried how to arrange the stones without fastening it.

Then we placed the tank back in the wall and started to fix the stones to the glass with expanding foam. Ofc there was some rearranging the original plan.

Then we added some small stones to hide the holes and expadning foam. They are fixed with silicone.

And there all stones are finished, the branch is fixed too, but we must add substrate and plants.

Looking good Sylphie. Can't wait to see the finished product. Is that a top opening enclosure? If so, how will you have access to the animals?

Yeah, it's top opening. And the access is "easy" (for my man, I'm too short and can't reach the bottom of the tank without standing on the chair), from one side of the wall it's extendet so you just take off 1/3 of the lid and can reach in. I can't describe it in a good way but here is the pic:

And thank you! Will post pics as soon as we finish it!

That's it for now, but there will be some changes tomorrow. Now we need to sleep :D
Some plants are in small pots, others (the one in left and the one in right corners) are just in soil, and then there is coro fibre on it.

Looks really cool, what's going to be calling this home?

Some of our corn snakes. Or that's the plan, we want to build 5 enclosures in one of our wardrobes and then all the corns will go there, so this is going to be their home for month or two. Adn then my man is planning to have a bunch of garter snakes, so they will be there... or maybe I will find a pair of japanese rat snakes? Will see :D

Looks great, I tend to use more branches than rocks in my enclosures. More climbing options for the snakes (not sure if they really need so many, lol) but doesn't look as appealing to the eye as the rocks.

toddnbecka, thank you! And I prefer more branches too, I guess we will add more when we find nice ones.

Thank you! We're really proud and I can't wait for the plants to grow :D
Where did you get those rocks? I like the texture of them. You guys did a great job on the tank :)

Just normal stone store... I mean the ones that you can buy all type of stones for your garden, gravel for your porch etc. I don't know how it's called in english :(

Looks fantastic, Sylphie! Be sure to post more pics with the snakes inside! I'm jealous that stone shops are normal where you live :p Those rocks you got are perfect for that background.

Thank you! And I'll post a lot of pics for sure, but corns are still settling in, so I don't want to stress them out yet :D
As for that stores... they are mostly for buliding companies, but some of them are selling for "normal" peoples too. The one we went to is even having a special section for fish/reptile tanks, and the owner has quite a grasp on what is good and what is bad for specific animals. I'm certain that something similiar is in other countries too, but I can't describe it properly and can't find what it is called in english. It's like stone wholesale? Ehh I'm lacking that part of vocabulary, as I never needed any specific building-related technical words.

Hahaha, she heard your request and that's how I found her today :D That enclosure has a lot of tunnels and caves between stones so she seems to really love it (she's our most digging snake).

Love the contrast between her and the background! The enclosure compliments her well :) She definitely looks at home in there.
By the way, I just noticed the yellows coming in on her cheeks! I love that little quirk that corns have.

How heavy does the tank clock in at with all the real rocks?
Sylphie
10-09-15, 02:49 AM
Well, empty tank was around 100kg(220lb), the stones are around 70kg(154lb)... so it's heavy :D But that's our display cage so it's okay, when we'll build rack in wardrobe then we'll use expanding foam, so it will be easy to move when needed.
And thank you all for kind words!
I love the job you did on that enclosure! It just blows my mind how good it looks!!

Pogie, thank you! <3 I would love to build similiar tanks for all my snakes, but like I said it's really heavy and I want to be able to move the tanks if needed. But we're having a smart plan for our future viv rack... We'll see, haha!
Wow that is awesome. I love the way the rocks tilt and sit together. A few years ago I had big rocks in one of my tanks and promptly dropped one of the rocks while cleaning and shattered the bottom of the tank, what a fail.
Maybe I can do something like that for Domino when I get to her tank.
Someone has a 200 gallon for sale on craigslist for 50 bucks. I considered buying it but it weights at least a hundred pounds or more, too much for me to move.
