Just fed my spotted Python a mouse, and shortly after striking I noticed he was making a hard breathing/hissing noise. I thought maybe it was because the lid to his cage is noisy when you take it on and off, and maybe putting it back on irritated him while he was trying to eat, or maybe he was just worked up from being in feed mode. No wheezing/hissing outside of this, and there has been no stargazing. Anyone else's snake get noisy when they eat? Or is this cause for concern

My male Russian Rat Snake (E.schrencki) is doing the same while eating. He'll grab the mouse, then will take a really deep breaths, then "puff" it after a while so much that he's looking like packaging under vacuum, and then after a while he'll take a deep breath again. He's perfectly fine, just really weird way of eating I guess :D

They're having to breathe around their prey, that's why they're so loud when they breathe, and it partially blocks their airway at times so it can sound weird sometimes. It's perfectly normal.
