So i got my rat snake almost 2 weeks ago. He ate two mice on friday and now when i hold him I can feel his backbone. Is there something that could be causing him to lose weight or should i feed him more often? I dont know what could be wrong. I will post some more recent pictures and pictures from when i got him.

Hm, 2 adult mices are good for snakes that size. One of the thing that can cause weight loss are parazites or protozoa. My 2yo corn snake was rapdily losing weight and after vet visit it turned out that she was having protozoa. She received medicines, and now she's slowly gaining her weight back.

I would watch him closely, try to weight him once in 2-3 weeks, and if he will be definitely losing weight then go to the vet for check up.

Thanks Sylphie. I think im going to offer a mouse on friday and see if he takes it, the other day his eyes were milky then they went normal this morning but he hasnt shed yet.

It usually takes them few days to shed after they eyes are back to normal :) And no problem!

Here is a picture of him with some grass for coloration. I let him outside in the tub that hes in for some sunshine. How does he look from a full body picture.

For me it's normal, healthy snake :D Both not overweight and not skinny.

That just looks like minor scale damage should heal in a shed or 2
