I'm still new to the snake world. I had a snake that wasn't eating so I finally tried a live mouse and he ate it. Now I have a question I've been told that feeding them live can make them more aggressive. Is this true? And I've also read different things on how much I should handle them. I've been leaving them alone for a day after eating (they haven't shed yet) but other than that I handle them all the time. Is that bad?

Welcome and best wishes Sparky. Tell us a little more about your snake. What kind of snake do you have? What are the temps and humidity in it's enclosure? I always double check my husbandry if I have any issues with my snakes. Snakes sometimes take long food breaks. As long as they're not losing significant weight, or showing other signs of illness, I wouldn't worry too much. How long was your snake's fast? Feeding live isn't a bad thing and I don't know of any evidence that it makes snakes more aggressive. As far as how often to handle your snake (s), that's pretty subjective. Snakes don't really like being handled, they just tolerate it, some better than others. It's more for our enjoyment. It's generally best not to handle them 48 hours after they've eaten or when they're in shed. I usually handle my snakes for a few minutes at a time about 2-3 days a week. Let's see pics of your crew when you get a chance.

They are Ball Pythons. I try to keep the humidity around 60 and the temp around 80 but I've been having trouble keeping it in. I will be sure to post pics
