Hello
Im new here and therefore cant post pictures yet...but i have an 8 year old male weatern hognose with a piece of aspen shaving enloged in his mouth. He can breath fine, and the piece is about 1/10 inch wide. What are the recommended actions for this?

Thanks
Nick

Did you manage to remove the aspen? I'd probably try to carefully open his mouth with a card or similar, and remove the stuck aspen with some thin tweezers (like the ones I use to fed)

I wouldn't recommend trying to open the snake's mouth. Just grab hold of the aspen with tweezers/tongs/fingers and gently pull. The snake should get annoyed and open his mouth, allowing the aspen to come free. If it doesn't come out with gentle pulling, give up and try again later. Eventually it will either come out or be digested with the next meal. No one likes to eat sawdust but it'd have to be a very large piece to harm your snake.

Yeah, it should be fine. One of my baby racers ingested a newspaper shred about as big as its head, it was fine
Edit: it was about as tall as its head, but paper thin, not like a tube haha

UPDATE: I successfully removed the aspen without too much effort tonight. The snakes saliva started to rot the wood already, but the snake is fine now. Thanks for the help
