I live in South East Florida. The photos aren't the best so you'll have to zoom (no one wanted to get near the snake), but they show the body pattern, underbelly, and head. It's not a snake I've ever seen in my yard. I usually get small, thin snakes, but this one was thick and long. When it was killed, I looked in the mouth and saw small fangs, but I don't know if it's venemous.

^Yes i was about to say but why was it killed. It could have been safely relocated.

Next time you see a snake, call animal control. They'll relocate it for you and that means there's no more snakey for you, and the snake gets to live another day. After all, you never know how a species is faring in the wild unless you look it up, and if it were endangered than we'd have one less breeding adult. Thankfully, cottonmouths have a pretty stable population, but it benefits both parties if you call someone who practices capture and release.

It's a cottonmouth. Also, there was no reason to kill it. It could have been safely relocated.
