Hey everyone! I was given a baby red tail today it's just a couple weeks old and I got him/her all set up now and he/she is very calm and has not shown one sign of aggression yet. Also seems to like being handled and supposedly was eating well already so all is well on that front which I'm happy about :).
I'm just curious though as to what kind it is (BCI/BCC/etc) I have only had pythons and smaller snakes like corns and garters so I don't know a whole lot about boas yet. I've did a little researching and have my thoughts on what it is, but I would like to hear from you all who have a bit more knowledge about what you think. I'll attach some pics of right after I put he/she in their new home.
Thanks!

Probably BCI? But he also looks a bit like a BCL. without lineage info it will be impossible to tell :p

Fantastic looking specimen either way. How old is it? Are you sure it's a baby?

Thanks for the quick feedback and compliments you two! It's no more than a month old, as the person who gave it to me had two together and the female had a bunch of little ones while he was on vacation which was a like 3 weeks ago. I was told since then it has had 3 feeds. Only a bit over a foot long right now and probably as thick as a nickel or a bit more at its widest spot.

My editing time ran out before I could upload the new pics and put them on my last post, but here are some pics to show the size. I got it out and took some of me holding it so you can get a better idea.

BCI... But you'll never know for certain so just call it a common boa. Lovely little guy tho :D

Definitely not BCL, it looks very much like a common boa (BCI), but as Snakey-Jay pointed out we'll never know for sure, not without paperwork. We can only tell you what it looks most like, but that doesn't mean it can't be a mutt. It definitely isn't a pure red tail (BCC) though.

I too thought it was a BCI with possibly a bit of something else in there but either way I'm happy with it :) thanks for the info!

Regardless of the lineage it will certainly be a great pet snake. Here's a couple pics of out pair of babies, more than a month old but still pretty small.
The male is a 3 way cross. 66% poss het for leopard and albino. His colors look similar to yours.

The female is het for albino, though I'm not sure whether either of them is from the Kahl albino line. There are 2 different (and incompatible) albino lines, crossing one from each won't produce albino offspring.
