Scold me later, not now please. Wondering if anyone has seen this behavior before. My male and CRB live(d) together the entire two years iv had them, but I just had to separate them because he kept wrapping around her, nudging around to 'find the head' and at one point he tried biting her side so at this point I separated them. Every time she switched hides, he followed. They just ate yesterday. He was also being a bit off with me, very wiggly and when I put him into the new tub he was coiling as if to strike while i out the probe in. He's never struck in the two years I've had him. He was also arching his side's/back and pushing everything away when I touched him in the new tub. Does this just sound like breeding behavior? Needless to say they'll be housed separately from now on.

Yep, sounds like he was interested in more than friendship. ;-) Well done to separate. She may already be gravid though, so keep a close eye on her.

I definitely will. This behavior only just started, aside from being out almost constantly for the past month or so. Hopefully I've caught it in time. The only other weird thing that happened before was on Monday when feeding him I could only see his tail end, so I rubbed the rat on him and he started wiggling his tail everywhere. The biting just seemed weird to me.

Is it even physically possible for her to be gravid at her age/size?

Males usually mature sooner than females, so it's not likely.

Agreed...but they can always surprise you!
