It is impossible to be able to tell the gender 100% sure by just looking at its tail unless its junk is hanging out, it looks male but it could just as easily be a female. You have to get the gender checked by a specialist, otherwise you won't know unless you successfully breed the animal.

This is what people look at when trying to determine gender by looking at the tail, It's about as accurate as WebMD calling every sneeze cancer.

I would get a set of probes or take it to a pro. The only other way is to breed. I would agree that it looks like there's a thick part after the cloaca so my guess is male.

This time of year, all of the sand boas are either adult age or itty bitty babies hardly anyone is selling yet. Males and females are sexually dimorphic in that the size difference is so dramatic, the males look like little parasites in comparison to the female.

If you could show us a picture of the entire age and tell us the age it would help
