Just purchased a new baby ball python yesterday had him in a glass terrarium , my partners grandmother decided to put duct tape in the terrarium to seal cracks and I get a frantic call from my partner that the snake might die ! Ugh seems that the snake tangled himself and was struggling , my partner ended up soaking the snake and try peeling it off removing a large portion of scale behind the neck about a inch I am so angry and devastated , she rushed him to. Pet store we've been going to for years they helped by giving us ointment and said he will be fine under close supervision I am livid and now researching whatever I can to save him no vets take reptiles for 25 miles in my area , any tips pointers help etc would be very appreciated

Stories don't add up.

1. Snake got out and got tangled in duct tape.

2. It was in the enclosure.

At any rate, if this is real, aslong as the skin isn't damaged it should heal fine. Keep it clean and keep the enclosure sterile as possible. Use paper towel as substrate and keep any rough decorations out of the enclosure. Use smooth plastic hides and water dish.

I think they meant to say "on" the enclosure, as in applied to the outside to seal cracks...and then the little BP subsequently trying to escape through said cracks got tangled up. At least that's the only way I can make sense of it.

Anyway, was there any blood? If there isn't actually any open wound then he should heal up without issues. Keep the area disinfected and keep him in a sterile environment. A shed or two should get him looking better again.

even if they meant ON, I dont think IN and ON are the same :)
Stories are still different

But the letters "I" and "O" are directly beside each other on a standard QWERTY keyboard, so the in/on typo happens a lot. In this case, if you assume it was a typo and they meant "on", then the stories match.

Paper towel substrate, neosporin on the injury, and time.

Ask me how I know. :P

(two sheds later and my russian rat STILL has a bare spot, but it's much better.)

Paper towels yes. But imo, I would start with betadine liquid diluted 1:3 first (weak tea colored) solution. Once healing has been initiated and visually apparent switch to Neosporin w/o pain relief additive. Time, yes . Bps heal and recover very slowly.
