Hey all I need some help in terms of heating solutions. I have a planted 24x18x24 exo terra awaiting a vine snake. Problem I just discovered is the exo terra dual canopy with the flouresent tubs and halogen basking light don't put out enough heat to heat the tank. I left it on all night, covered the exposed top with tin foil and by morning there is a 4F difference between room temperature and the cage temp in the middle of it. It seems every cage I setup, I always have problems not having enough heat and end up buying extra equipment to supplement the original source that I thought would work.

Ended up buying a 100w zoo med CHE, zoo med light cage and the stand so I can adjust the height throughout the year to tweak the temperature. Wish me luck.

I don't even know what that is. Mink suggested a CHE and according to zoo meds site a 100w is for 30-40g and 150w is 50-60. A 24x18x24 is a 44g tank so a 100w seemed right, also the canopy still will give off some heat. Figured it's the right option for this setup. The room is warmer now then it will be come winter so I figure the stand I can raise and lower with the season change. It will be on the same timer as the lights.

I went zoo med while reading up on options they are UL and ULC certified. So good enough for me.

All reptiles had a zoo med workshop all day yesterday. They had their zoo med rep in helping people.

Oh, no I realized my temps weren't up to par yesterday afternoon. I thought the canopy would be good enough but nope.
