My cousin lives in another country and this unfortunate little guy crossed their path and her husband killed it l. Nice color pattern. Wondered what it was?

El Salvador
I'd like to see a better image but it looks to be a Crotalus durissus, usually called a South American Rattlesnake or Neotropical Rattlesnake. Could you upload the picture to a photo hosting site like Photobucket and link it?

Oh yeah, definitely a Neotropical. Looks like somebody got a rattle for a souvenir.

It's simus
It's simus
Right, C. durissus was split into three species with this paper (http://filogeografia.dna.ac/PDFs/Wuester%26l_05_C_durissus.pdf) in 2004, the the animals found in Central America being reclassified as C. simus. Thank you for the correction.
