For those who remember I have a newt that had/has limb rot. Anyway I decided to wait another day or two before putting it down, I'm glad I did because it's now doing awesome. The leg ened up falling off. I cleaned it everyday and had to hand feed it but it's doing so good now. It still has a little bit of infection on the stub but it's clearing up. So I now have a 3 legged newt!! Thanks for all the support I got from everyone.

Thanks! I have no idea if newts can or not. I don't really care as long as he remains healthy and happy!!

Rebecca,

Glad to hear that things look better. Newts have remarkable regenerative powers. One of my newts had its front leg removed just below the elbow by an overzealous sibling (newt feeding frenzy!). Within a couple of months it had regrown the entire limb including distinct toes! Just make sure you keep up with the water changes and good hygiene and it should grow back!
