That would be a very odd spot for scale rot to start, it looks like maybe he had a rough shed in that particular spot, or even hard water buildup. Although I'm not really sure how that would happen either. As far as the wheezing, do you notice anything else he does when he does it? any other symptoms? That can be a symptom of respiratory infection, but it can also be completely fine.

He looks completely normal even when he does it.. just moves around.. he dosent mind me touching him... and he eat on sunday... im worryd about the wheesing.. i just cant have a problem that might need vet asistence... and the spott i think its getting bigger.. but slowly

Unfortunately we can't tell you exactly what it is. It looks like dead skin but if its getting bigger it could also mean fungal. Which I would have no idea how to treat.

As far as the wheezing goes again there is no way for us to know. Both of these issues require testing. Particularly cultures.

It could be a skin infection, fungal or not. What you could try is to clean out the tub, put the snake on some paper towels or newspaper. Dilute some betadine (1 part Betadine, 4 parts water.) And carefully clean the spot with that. Also raise the temperature slightly, and keep the humidity as high as possible without making the living area wet. Is he close to shedding? slight sounds can be made by loose pieces of skin in the nostrils as well.

I don't know for sure cause I am still new to keep snakes myself but I thought when they get cold they can some times make an odd wheezing noise also.

how often should i wipe him with th Betadine?
I not sure about the sheddiing... i think he could be.. ill look at his nose more closely.. to se if it could be skin.
thanks everyone for the soport.. i wish i had a vet here.. if i cant cure him im going to look for a solution in a naiboring country ore something...

You could try twice a week, see if it improves after shedding.

Can you put some Neosporuin on it?

lady_bug87
07-25-15, 05:12 PM
Neosporin won't help if it's fungal I don't think. Is betadine considered an anti fungal as well as an anti septic?

I know that teatree oil is an antifungle. We use it on horses who get rain rot.

AlexCrazy
07-27-15, 08:27 PM

Paper towel is fine. You don't need to crumple it though.

If you want paper you can try butcher paper OR you can talk to newspapers and ask about the ends of rolls they can't use.

Not all wrong. Do you have access to any kind of mulch? Or shavings?

The boxes may rot. So keep an eye on it. How are you heating? We can figure this out together!

AlexCrazy
07-27-15, 08:49 PM
I crumple it up for.. i dont know.. a leaf tipe of feel.
I have wood shavings.. that i get for my hamsters.. from a tipe of wood with out resin.. or oils. I do keep a good eye on the boxes.. thanks. I have a litle heat pad from y tiny snake a had.. i ordered 2 big ones.. and thermometers but the container just whont leave.. so i have to wait more. His temp under his main house.. here the heat pad is... is 30-35 C° and air 22-24.. its winter here.. but i leave my air contitioner on so he doeent feel the cold to bad.
Now heck knows how the think on his nose desapeard.. i touched it and it did not buge.. but in his adventure it came of... i dont know hoe it could of gotten there.. but he still does have the white spot sadly.. :$

He really does need to see a vet.

Temps should not get below 23C (or about 75F) or above 32C (or about 90F)

And I agree, little Herc should be seen by a vet.

AlexCrazy

I wish we had one. there aren't any vets here that deal with reptiles.. just cows and dogs.. common mammals.. but i found and old number of a guy that imported snakes.. he gave me a name for a cream.. but in the worst of cases ill ask my dad to take me to the Itaipu reserve to get urgent help if all hell breaks loose.. they keep animals and do research.. i spouse they could help me if i really need it.. we even rescued an illegally kept wild cat and gave it to them.. so they should help me. :S

AlexCrazy

DDW I raised the temp of my air conditioner so he feels better.. and monitored the heat pat properly so i think i kinda have that part covered.. put i really need my big heat pat to arrive so it can heat a bigger area..

I wish you the best of luck.
I'm fortunate to have a reptile vet about an hour away, decent distance in case of emergency.

Also what is the humidity? RI can pop up if either too high or too low. Sound like it could bee too dry since cold can dry air out pretty good.

DDW
07-27-15, 10:14 PM
If humidity it low and won't come up, try a humid hide. (Container with dampish paper (that is what I'm using) towel in it with a hole cut in the side for Herc to get in through)

AlexCrazy
07-27-15, 10:18 PM
i guess its dry.. i don't have a hydrometer.. i feel so bad. its was spouse to get here before Herc.. but it has been raining a lot.. and the thing on his head must of been cos of hi humidity i guess.. that's what my contact seas.. i forgot to mention the weasing.. but he is kinda annoying so ill mention it when i give the update on the white spot.
sorry if many of you who read this post think my Herc is in bad conditions.. im knew and giving all my time and resources to get it all right.. i love to give the best to my pets.. its just hard when your almost the only one in the country doing it.. and destiny dident help me too much.. but i will give him the proper care.

I don think badly of you. Don't worry. You are trying to do the best you can with what you have. I understand. Think I can speak for most people on here by say we just want to help. We are just trying to figure out what's wrong and fix it. Just try the humid hide and make sure no mold grows. If humidity is too low, that will give him the option to get higher humidity. It won't hurt anything and he will have a spot to get moist without being seen. Humidity can bounce around when and after it rains. And it won't be the same inside as outside so it might still be low. I hope your stuff gets there ASAP.

Up the temps too. Any way you can. Even if it's with a light bulb that just gives off alot of heat. He can go into a hide to get away from the light, but the heat should still radiate through the enclosure.
