I will most likely be getting an Exo terra glass terrarium in the near future. I was wondering if there was an alternative to suction cups because they wear out so quickly… Something to where you could still move the decoration around (like fake plants) but strong enough to hold the snakes weight.

Not really... all the alternatives that I know of require more permanent mounting.

I wonder if some of those newer picture hanging strips might work. http://www.amazon.com/Command-Picture-Hanging-4-Small-8-Medium/dp/B000OF6X48
They show them holding a fair bit of weight and if you want to move the item, you simply pull down on the bottom of the strip to release it. It may be worth a try.

I use plastic coated twist ties and suspend from the screen tops. Just ensure that the ends with the pointy ends are outside the enclosure.

Do you think they would be able to stand high humidity?

Could also try strong magnets. Have to make sure the magnet going on the inside of the enclosure is coated with plastic or something to prevent corrosion though. Suction cups are terrible.

We just started using rare earth magnets at work in a newly redesigned vertical blind. They're incredibly strong for their size (3/4" x 3/8 x 1 /4") and one of them will actually stay on the palm of my hand until I move the other one about an inch above the back of that hand. You don't want to get a little skin pinched between them. There are various sizes available on e-bay, I'm thinking about using some as handles for sliding glass doors on the enclosures I'm building.
