View Full Version : Ball Python won't go into hides?

I've given my ball python two hides, one on the cool side and one on the warm side of the cage. and he'll occassionally go into the cool side's hide, but has only went into the warm side once or twice.

He'll literally push it out of the way and curl up in a ball or sprawl out in it's place. He doesn't even always lay on his heating pad when he does it. He'll shove it away and curl up in the corner (well off the pad) He doesn't seem stressed as he hasn't made much effort to escape and he has been eating fine. Doesn't seem spooked or sick. Anything. Matter of fact he seems content.

I've thought that it might be due to it's size but honestly with the rate at which he is growing it's not too big. He fits tight into it and it has only one exit (it's a hamster igloo)

I'd like to think that he is just comfortable in his cage, but this isn't normal ball python behavior. They are supposed to hide during the day and be active at night. Right?

Don't sweat it. Probably dislikes the hide for whatever reason. They know best, not us.

Eats, poops, not sick. You're good.
