Welcome to ssnakess billherricks. Probably your burm is stressful and doesn't like you to handle it at all. The behaviour may be a feeding or a defensive response. Normally, I seldom handle my snakes after feeding at least after 3 to 4 days. Too much handling after the snake is fed may cause regurgitation and this is no good to your burm. Imagine, if your have a big meal and your stomach is full, you may like to lie down rather than do something else. Also, snake is cold-blooded with a slower metabolism, it takes longer time to digest the food before they do something more active.

well this might be all my fault, when I got her I fed 1 mouse and 1 small rat this go round I fed 2 small rats the 2nd one bit her on the nose (I know IM going towean her to p/k asap, she was fed live since birth, just got her)do you think I over fed? I fed about 3 or four times and was always able to handle her the 2nd day.

welcome bill. It's not uncommon for burms to hiss. specially after being bit. you might wanna ask about this in the Giant Python forum.

Welcome. The zoo I volunteer at has a berm that hisses all the time but never bites. I think her just wants you to know that he wants to relax.

welcome. I woudnt be to concerned, she is either stressed or wants to be left alone. You should be able to get better advice in the giant python forum.

First of all, burms hiss. They just do, it's a burm thing. How big is she? How often do you feed? Is she your first snake? Just curious
