As a side hobby of keeping reptiles, i also very much like to visit kids at schools with my animals and teach them that snakes, spiders and other reptiles are not the monsters they are told they are. The look in their eyes and change of thinking when seeing and touching the animals is very rewarding!
Anyway, a while ago I had one of those visits and the teacher send me some pictures.

Very cool! Great photos and this is an excellent way to educate the kids about snakes in a safe, non-threatening way. Beautiful snakes by the way.

I really like this type of hands on education, when I was in elementary school I loved when something like this would happen, I thinks it's kinda sad that most reptile info that kids get these days is from animal planet.

Me too.. they just see them bitting and killing and stuff.. i saw a programe.. retic that killed a kid! That leaves a terrible mark on us.. and religion seas that the snake is the devil (i am a non beliver.. but i do respect the ones who do) but.. the snake dosent have the fault of being the bad guy in the bible :(

Yeah, I wish I had this when i was a kid, then i would have had reptiles for much longer than now :) I love doing this, the kids love it and i believe this is the way to get the hobby in a positive light.

I'm not trying to high jack the thread or start an argument, but I think that religion sees the serpent as the devil, I don't think it ever says snake, I always thought snake, but i think a serpent could be a dragon or some other creature lol

Awesome! I loved hands on experiences with animals as a kid. We once had a magic show with tigers visit but their message was conservation and they donated all the money to tigers. I was sick and dont remember much but we got to pet a baby. So cool. I used to take my birds to show and tell at school and did so once for my niece. I think it would be fun to do again sometime. I'm glad to see other people do it. It really is fantastic. Then those kids go home and tell their parents all about it. Animals and kids should be neccesary for proper development. It's so important.

This is amazing!
If you don't mind me asking, how do you get into this?
Do you have to call the school in advance or have a store/company you work for?
I would love to do this one day in the school I grew up in, my collection isn't nearly big enough though and I might need to be a bit older ( I;m 17 fresh out of highschool )

It all started at my sister' schildren's school. My nietes tol their trachea that i had snakes and spiders, so they had me called to come with them and talk about it. After that, i posted it on fb and from there on others asked if i could do it at their children's school.
