My desert ball was supposed to be delivered this morning by 10:30. Didn't happen. I am on the phone with Fedex, hearing apologies, reassurances, but they say that delivery will be tomorrow. That means, almost 48 hours for the poor little girl stuck in a tiny shipping box. I am so worried.
What is the risk for her?

Low I'd say. Same thing happened to my MBK in the middle of december and she was fine. And she was stuck in like...michigan.

You seem to be running into alot of issues lately with tour snakes. Are you planning on slowing down on adding to your collection?

You can go pick the snake up at the fedex location. I've had snakes come late, and the first time, I made the mistake of waiting the whole day... so by the time I decided to go pick it up the locations were closed. However it arrived safely the next day. Still, it would be best to pick them up.

You can pick them up as suggested.

If that's not possible then as long as the shipper packed the snake appropriately it should be fine.

She's still in Memphis, TN. I'm in Kissimmee, FL.

I remember that the banana ball was packed properly, I expect that this one is, as well. However, the breeder did not indicate to Fedex that there's a live animal in the package, I've been told.

I'm in TN. Weather has been nice so I wouldn't worry at all.

Hah! They said that the delay was due to wild weather in Memphis.

.....wild weather? Lol

Well, I'm in nashville, so a few hours away, they be getting pelted with weird weather. I was mostly just talking about temps. Temps have been pretty even and mild this week. Last week it got over 100 degrees....this week it's stayed in the low-mid 80s.

Good packaging does a lot to reduce the risks associated with delays. I expect your snake will arrive safe and sound ;) However, I would be very upset about the breeder not indicating that the package contains a live animal! It makes a huge difference in how the package is treated, so it's very important to do so. Did they do that with your banana?

If that is truly the case, that is a violation of the shipping live reptiles laws. There is supposed to be the wording "live harmless reptile" on the shipping box and there should also be a Fedex stamp of authenticity on the box next to the shipping label. So you need to verify that with the shipper bc Fedex is unreliable and they make stories up. Hope the animal arrives safely. There should be a guarantee on live arrivals however. The authenticity stamp is the Fedex animal desk approval to ship the reptile. Good luck.

Wow, not laveling it's a live animal is a serious red flag....if I were you, I wouldn't deal with this breeder any more if you get the package and it's not labled.

I don't remember about the banana, but I will let you know tomorrow when I receive the package containing the new girl.

I'm just going to pick up every package from now on. I received a package today but it didn't come until after 2pm because of the backlog, the driver left it on the door step and just took off, why he didn't use the doorbell?? fortunately I got the package off the door step quickly but the poor little fellows did seem a pretty beat up from the trip.

I don't know if you've seen my new thread, guys. Skye has arrived safely, and she looks amazing, even though she's about to shed. She was very thirsty, but otherwise ok. The shipping box was labeled 'perishable', instead of 'live animal'.
