GTP Questions

Hey everyone,

Couple questions on GTPs,

Anyone come across docile GTPs or are they all food hungry missiles.
How big do they generally get, what tank size for adults, young?

Pros/cons?

Who has em and how much do you like them :)

I have known some GTP to be docile and able to be held. On the most part, most of the ones I have dealt with are normally defensive. They are more of a display snake and not one that likes to be held. I find this to be true with most tree snakes.

Thats what I thought but I was curious :)
I've been looking at them for a while, and will probably continue to look until I'm ready. but I thought I'd start checking them out now.

Only thing to look out for is they do need specific requirements but if it's something you really want/would enjoy you'll be on top of it.

As for docile. I find it's hit or miss and more of a miss. Even docile ones though I find become food hungry missles at night. It's pretty neat actually.

OH of course :) I would never get a creature I wasn't ready for..
Thats why I am researching because in a year or so I may Really want one.

I wouldnt mind an anim al that doesnt demand cuddles honestly.. And I find the food hungry missile behaviour really interesting.

The most docile snake can turn into a heat seeking missile. Defensiveness is different from feeding response. All of the gtp's I've kept or come across were docile, but at night it would be unwise to enter their cage.

You'll probably get more in depth husbandry information from books or forums dedicated to chondros. Basically, the minimum for an adult chondro usually ranges from a 2ft cube to 4x2x2 depending on the size of the snake. And it's also agreed that longer cages are better than taller cages.
