East vs West

Hey all. Was wondering about the differences between the eastern snd estern hognose types, and is it possible to breed the teo together.

Although it's probably possible, I strongly advise against crossing them. Easterns tend to be tough to switch to rodents. I believe Eastern hognoses are also a bit bigger.

I'm not sure how closely related the 3 Heterodon species are, but just from physical appearance I'd say you'd have an easier time breeding Southerns and Westerns than you would with Easterns. Easterns are a good bit larger than both other species and they're a good bit different physically from the other two as well.

As many colubrids can be bred across Subfamilies, I would be quite surprised if you could not breed hognoses across genus. I would make an educated guess that you could. I am wondering why you would like to try it?
