What is this?

At first I thought it was some dirt, but now it looks like a scab. I feed f/t and his tub is pretty bare so no real way to scrape. Could it be a form of scale rot? =/

Tough to say. Picture is difficult to make out.

Looks like a sore of some sort. Does it hurt to touch it? What does it feel like? When you buy your rats do they have any blood on them? How do you heat the tub?

It's a really odd spot for normal scale rot.

Definitely he has been using his head to push against something in the tub. Maybe the tub lid or the side of the tub. Scale rot typically occurs on the belly scales due to a animal being exposed to a overly damp and unsanitary cage floor. Is he in a smaller tub? Maybe he's outgrown his enclosure?

Aaron: Sometimes when I thaw his mice they get bloody noses. I use a UTH. He's super headshy anyway, so can't tell if it hurts him or not or what it feels like.

Albert: He mY be rubbing the top. It's a low, but WIDE tub. I can work in getting hom a new tub, but probably not until next week (pay day).
