I went to the St. Louis reptile expo today and I got exactly what I was looking for. I snagged a 5 yr old male fire corn immediately. Another lap around the banquet hall and he probably would've been gone by the time I came back. I'll put up a few photos below. I'll put better ones up later. I also got to hold a black headed python for the first time. It was pretty exciting!!!! Now I kind of want one.....one day perhaps.

I went to my first reptile expo a few months ago! Although a couple vendors had...questionable practices...I overall had a wonderful time and there were so many lovely animals there. I really wanted to hold one of the crested geckos, but most of the vendors had a strict "if you're not buying you can't hold policy" so I felt it would be rude.

I'm hoping to go to another one in July, this time in Atlanta, so maybe I'll see even more cool animals there.

Nice pick up! It's always cool to see the animal in person.

Here's the black headed python I held today. I fell in love with him but he was too expensive for me. Maybe one day. The site wouldn't let me load this picture for half an hour. Weird.

Thanks Mink! :)
Bigsnakegirl, Thank you! Yes, expos are really fun and exciting. Seeing all the different kinds of animals is really cool and so is picking up a few new family members. Hmm, I don't know much about the crested geckos but I do know if you're interested in just about anything else they will get it out for you. I always check my potential buys out pretty good before making an offer. Hope you enjoy your next show!

Yeah, I have been to a few of the Nashville repticons and they will let you hold just about anything you ask for. I personally try not to handle too many things unless I really DO want to check it out so that I am less likely to transmit anything between venders. And if I do handle anything, I use purel before and after. It's the ONLYtime I ever use hand sanitizer lol.

Cresties can be a little difficult though since some are jumpy. So it may be that whoever had the look but don't touch policy, knew they had jumpy geckos.

I said I wasn't going to the one in august.....but I already feel myself planning lol.

That was just the general rule for all the vendors there, whatever they were selling. Other than the retics I was checking out when deciding on which one to buy, only the hedgehogs and rabbits were allowed to be held. The rescue did have photos with their Burm for a fee, though. Maybe at the next show I'll be able to hold a crestie. I hear they feel really cool.

I don't think I'll be able to pick something by the time I go to that show, but I know I'll really want to. haha
