View Full Version : couldn't resist..
I started searching for some "stupid laws".. Here are a couple of the rather odd ones. These are limited to Ontario..
Guelph - The city is classified as a no-pee zone.
Kanata - The color of house and garage doors is regulated by city
bylaws (a purple door get you a fine). It is also illegal to have a clothes line in your backyard.
- You can't work on your car in the street.
Oshawa - It's illegal to climb trees.
-Homeowners are responsible for clearing snow off of municipal sidewalks. If sidewalks is not cleaned within 24 hours after a snowfall, city workers will clean it and the cost will be placed on the homeowners tax bill.
Ottawa - It is illegal to eat ice-cream on Bank Street on a Sunday
Toronto - You can't drag a dead horse down Yonge Street on a Sunday.
Uxbridge - Residents are not allowed to have an Internet connection faster than 56k.
Wawa - You may not paint a ladder as it will be slippery when wet.
- It is illegal to show public affection on Sunday.
Some interesting laws out there.. lol..

Dan Conner
Check these out!!
Boyne Falls, Michigan, U.S. 131 - Do not pass while opposing traffic present.
Highway 26, Idaho Falls, Idaho - Warning to tourists: don't laugh at the natives.
Rim Drive, Durango, CO - Warning: Do Not Hit This Sign
Unknown Road, Clemson, SC - Caution water on road during rain.
Sheriff's Dept., Warrden County, IN - At entrance to jail a sign reads, "No weapons beyond this point". Message is also written in brail underneath.

Phew, I was just about to drag my dead horse down young street on sunday, better re-schedule!
thanks for the tip
im pretty sure it is illegal to hakisack in Nelson B.C. along with walking your dog downtown.
i thiink the reason for this law is because all the hippies moved there and now theyre trying to get rid of them or something. lol.
funny post matt.
The law about "Homeowners are responsible for clearing snow off of municipal sidewalks. If sidewalks is not cleaned within 24 hours after a snowfall, city workers will clean it and the cost will be placed on the homeowners tax bill." used to be in effect in many communities until it got challanged because sidewalks are city property and thus the city is responsable for them.

If your blood alcohol is over 0.8, who the hell wants to mow the lawn? Just order a pizza and give the neighbor kid $10 to do it.:D
LOL! BWSmith!!! I love the way you think!
It's amazing that at one point, some of these laws were written in by politicians. Now try to imagine, someone lobbying against dragging a dead horse down younge street, "This has been going on long enough! We must stop the dragging of dead horses down this street on Sundays, there's just too much traffic! All these people dragging dead horses and bumping into each other, the horses getting all tangled up... It must stop now! But to leave people a chance to drag their dead horses, they still can but not on Sundays"

Yah, we actually got a warning from a by-law officer about the clothes line in our back yard...
We were told to take it down right away or we would get a fine.
Why?
Bylaw officers explanation "If a trespasser is running through your yard at night he might accidentally hang himself."
Our reply "If a trespasser is running through our yard at night, he DESERVES accidentally to hang himself" LOL
The officer didn't think it was funny.....
