Hey everyone, New here and to Reptiles, havent been able to get any pets currently because of being in the military, cant keep them in the barracks. ha! Been doing a lot of looking around and research into it, and im hoping to get a Guyana Red Tail Boa and a couple other smaller snakes, havent decided yet which kind, probably corn snake or hognose. Please let me know your thoughts and any helpful information to what i should go with, all will be bought as babies.

Welcome and best wishes Treven. Thank you for your service. There are so many amazing snake choices. It really comes down to what you're looking for in terms of size, looks, and husbandry requirements. If you like corns then you might love kings. They're comparable in size and husbandry, they come in some gorgeous morphs, they're feisty, and they have a very impressive feeding response. If you want something a little larger in size and attitude, but with the same simple husbandry needs, take a look at the Pituophis (bull, pine, gopher) breeds. A carpet python is another stellar choice. I'll admit I'm biased. :)

Thank you Ziggy, i will look into the Pituophis area, i dont think i have really tread in that area yet. What i would absolutely love would be a Green Anaconda, i think its by far the most beautiful snake ever, just all in all, but its size and weight are a huge factor obviously or i would get it. If there are any snakes that look like the green anaconda but smaller, like 13' or less that would be great and manageable, but some day... :)

Welcome to the club, im about to try my hand at being Military and owning a snake in a few months so we will see how that goes *fingers crossed*

but yea same thing as Ziggy, lots of choices based on what you want. set on snakes? monitors are really fun, chameleons are fun to watch. then you have what I call wall art snakes like Green Tree Boas GTB or Amazon Tree Boas ATBs. where they look cool but dont move as much and are generally a bitey snake.

good luck and again welcome. if you find people having stuff you like dont be shy to message them a lot of incredibly knowledgeable people on here.

Thanks JWfugle, and good luck as well! Also, how do i make it so a moderator doesnt have to approve every single comment i make or post, that is kind of annoying and monotonous. :/

it takes like 3-5 post or comments for them to leave you alone. just kind of a warm up make sure your not a troll or some spammer. its just a really boring initiation.

First thank you for your service and risk.

Second 1.0 is male 0.1 is female and I think 0.0.1 is unknown. so 2.1 be 2 male 1 female, pied is a morph.
