Activity Levels

My BRB is probably my favorite snake in my collection, largely because of how active she is. And it's almost year round too except for maybe 2 months. Constantly going and I had to put a full spectrum uvb light in the cage just to see the shimmer. Anyways she is constantly climbing, will sleep in the branches, and spends very little time in her hides unless in shed.

Recently on a forum on another site the topic of display snakes popped up and I recommended a BRB for activity levels and got hounded by some people. So am I just lucky or does anyone else have active Epicrates?

It is unusual for a rainbow to be consistently active in bright light conditions. They are usually more shy, and active mostly at night. That said...they are still a great choice for a pet snake.

When my male BRB was younger, he would be very active during the daylight hours, but over the past few years, he pretty much stays in his hide all day and into the evening...He'll sometimes come out right before I turn out the lights, but that's about it.

Well then it looks like I was wrong. I feel bad now, I recommended BRB's to a lot of people on activity levels, but I guess I have the exception not the norm.

Anyone else have an active adult?

I have a baby, and he's pretty active. Usually just the sunset hours 8-10pm though. He'll climb on his vine, truck around his tub, and lay out in the open. During the daylight hours he'll be in one of his hides with his head sticking out and doesn't sleep in the open quite as often.

As long as I don't have a bright light on, he'll come out at night even with a light on, but it just can't light the whole room up (I actually notice more activity at night if I have a desk lamp on below his tub! especially if it's only one for an hour or two). He has been hiding in his bedding more often during the day lately, so I don't see him as much. He's coming up on 9 months old.

So long as she is eating, shedding, and eliminating fine, I don't see a major concern. OP, have any of her conditions changed lately to set this off, or is this all normal for her over the long term?

No she's always been active, through seven years, a few moves, and a couple cage changes. I'm just asking because I had maintained the assumption that many were like that (E.G. Carpet's) so I wanted to hear from owners.
