My juvie male BP, Moko, FINALLY ate!

I was doing my best not to be a worry wart when he wouldn't eat the day after bringing him home. My other repticon jewl did, so why wouldn't he?! He made me soooo mad waisting all those mice and rats. Grrr.... But...it's tripple as rewarding now, knowing that he has taken a meal. It was kind awkward too.

Open his tub, listen to him hiss at me a good bit, then get him on top of his hide box and present the mouse. First time he's ever shown interest in food. (With me anyway). He tracked it for a moment then, before I knew it...BAM! He got it right in the middle and coiled once. But, he coiled so tight some inners became outers x.x ew.... He just held it for a long time, not moving or anything. I watched from a distance so as to not disturb him. 10 minutes later after trying to find the right end to swallow...he gave up! Lazy little....-censored-.... Anyway...I figured I'd just kinda help him out and see if he'd give it another go. So, with the tongs I got the tail and dragged it away a little, wiggling it the whole time. He was tacking it again! Soon, he had the head, coiled once again, then this time had the whole thing down in about a minute! He did one lap around his tub, then slipped into his hide where he eyed me suspiciously.

I then realized I had forgotten my other 2 snakes...I had lifted the lids on their enclosures to feed them before going to Moko...the hognose was watching me, perched on the edge of his, and my MBK was down on some shelves and making her way behind some cabinets when I snatched her tail and got a hold of her. Both were lovingly tucked back in, though the hoggie kept cruising around his a bit looking for more food, and the MBK just looked dejected as she was also in full blue.

THIS IS WHY I LOVE THEM! Cold blooded and perhaps lacking that fluffy, lovey emotion or furbabies have an abundance of....but they are still packed with personality!

Some picks of Moko below. Sorry if they are sideways, I have no idea How to fix that.

Nice job. You cant really blame him for not eating right after you bought him home can you? What about his acclimating period to a new environment? What about a quarantine period to safeguard your other herps? He looks like he should be fed rats at the next feeding. Maybe rat pup or weaned rat. Good looking bee though!

Thanks everyone! I will say that this guy has taught me patients for sure. Until I git snakes I had geckos and they eat every day or two, and my 1st snake was of course an amazing Mbk that slammed down anything I fed her lol. And the hoggie ate literally the next day after the con. So, having to wait almost exactly a month (purchased the BP and the Hoggie march 21st) has been a frustrating but rewarding experience I'm just so glad he isn't one of those BPs that don't eat for a year lol.

Albert: I wasn't blaming him fot not eating, I'm just not patient and he's my first snake to refuse a meal. Also, I didn't want to waste 6-7 $ a week throwing away rats he refused to eat. A 1.35$ mouse is much less of a loss if uneaten. So, once he eats all his mice, he will get small rats. But honestly, he is perhaps a but pudgy for his age and could use smaller meals for a bit anyway. When I first git him, he looked like a little blood python lol. He was apparently a VERY good eater for his breeder lol.

Are you still paying pet store prices for your feeders Mink? ;)
