View Full Version : Snagging Scales?

My 3 yo RTB Apollo has been pretty healthy since I've had him. (Had one bout of mites but I think I've completely eradicated the little b**tards. still treating for em)
When he curls up and moves against himself, however, his scales seem to snag on each other and it really freaks me out, had him for a few months and this has always happened. He gets fed one medium rat once a week. Any suggestions or opinions?

Totally normal brother! Maybe when he sheds a few times you wont hear it. Don't worry about it.

I see this with some of my guys who speng alot of time in tight coils like RTB and ETB's. the scales get creases where there always bent but no cause for concern.

Do either of y'all have any opinion on how his scales catch on each other when he moves against himself? They've even sometimes gotten caught on my blankets or clothes. Could it be lack of humidity?

Shouldnt have to do with humidity. does it shed ok?

Hasn't shed since I've had him (only about 2 months)but the previous owner was very open and as far as I know he hasn't had issues with it.

Well for its size not surprising you havent had a shed yet. at that age/size it probably only sheds a few times a year. Whats your humidity level in the enclosure?

He's actually in shed as of today! I went to pick him up and he was very hissy then I noticed his milky eyes so I'll be able to tell you more once he's done shedding.
