Yes yes yes, i am indeed very happy, because as of today i am a retic keeper!!! It was a reptile show in Houten (The Netherlands) where i bought my first and probably only retic (due to space limits).
It's an awesome looking little female and she's a purple albino sunfire :

That retic is the "bomb". She almost appears to have aluminum foil on her in different areas! Feed her well and take care of her. Cool animal!

Why a mouse? She's plenty big enough for rats as is and the last thing you want is a retic hooked on mice...

Retics can and should take rats from the egg. Hell even superdwarfs can take them straight out of the egg. There is absolutely no reason to EVER feed a retic a mouse unless it's an absolute last resort for a hatchling that won't eat. The last thing you want is a retic hooked on mice.

It's not that they don't get the food they want, it's that they don't see the food offered as food. And yes, they will starve, but it can take a long time.
