Still in doubt on how to do the water part... I wanted to make a little pond surrounded with rocks and including a waterfall (all with styrofoam), but not sure it will be the best option regarding to hygiene and cleaning...

Hello Boss you alright. More complements comming your way :D the New cage looks awsome! I have a yellow anaconda. Only had her a couple of months but growing fast and will get pretty big as shes supposed to be female (need to get her sexed again when a bit bigger though) It's good to get an idea of what can be achieved if your willing to put the time in on a self build! I'm in a privately rented property though and need more space!

Voila, that's where we are now. Those stones aren't done yet, it will be higher and they will be put in place with cement or silicone and i still have to do a lot of testing for the waterfall, but i just wanted to see how it would look like :)
I'm also still waiting for connectors for the LED-strips and after that it's time for the finishing touch :)

Oh, one more thing. Because this waterpart is not removable, i am making it so that i can disconnect the hose for the waterfall and connect another on to pump out the water into a bucket or something.
First, i lead the hose outside and put a connector on it, then a hose with another connector (male/female) will go back inside an to the waterfall. Let's show this in pictures :)
pump with hose (which goes to the outside) :
https://scontent-fra3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/t31.0-8/11892344_10207867386669466_1557590387887609028_o.j pg

The outside hose, with the separate hose for pumping water out connected to it :

The waterfall hose (still have to complete this, first testing how best to place it) :
https://scontent-fra3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/t31.0-8/11951551_10207867388869521_8716249831402837612_o.j pg

Decided to make the shelf a bit more naturalistic too :) Flatstones will be glued and sealed, so no urine can't get in between them.

Flagstones are glued in and sealed. Then i threw a whole lot of dirt on it to cover up the sealant in between the stones. After drying e took away the dirt, so only that in the sealant stayed on.

Same technique with dirt in sealant. This part is a bit less than 1/4th of the total floorspace of the enclosure and i guess it can hold something between 40 and 50 litres of water ;)
Cheers.

The grass might not survive, but at least i wanted to try it out :)
I won't put my burmese in there for at least another week (or two) so the grass and plants can reroot a bit more.
But in the mean time, i didn't want it to just be empty, so i took Princess out of her tub and have her investigate the enclosure. She can stay there till Tijgertje rehouses and the she gets an enclosure of her own (hate to see her in a tub...).

Wow man, very nice looking cage. Reminds me a lot of the reptile zoo I was at a few weeks ago. Very jealous man.

How do you keep the grass growing so lush?

Amazing craftsmanship! Did you ever work at the reptile house at the public zoo? The enclosure reminds me of what you would see when visiting the giant snake exhibit. Haha. Really nice job.

Let me know how the grass keeps up. I hear that it's actually quite difficult to grow in a vivarium setup due to their extreme light requirements.

A long week after putting in the grass and plants, it all still looks great and it seems to me like the grass and moss are even growing :)

What kind of lights are you using?
David VB

There will be led strips going in the enclosure, but still waiting on connectors, so for now i have 2 tl-lights in there. Both ar from an old aquarium, so not a normal daylight i think.
What an insane enclosure man. It looks absolutely amazing. Cant wait to see it up and running with your burm.
