Hiiiii!! I'm Mary, new to the forum, recent first-time boa owner (previously had a corn snake) and seeker of knowledge about these guys. I'm absolutely in love with these 2 snakes and as I started researching more about them (and how to be rid of an immediate mite infestation-as a first time owner- Oy.) I realized they obviously weren't simply a red tail and a Colombian. That set me off on a quest to educate myself as much as possible. My supposed full red tail, Mushu, was questionable from the start, but my friend that gave them both to me insisted she just needed to be handled more, as he didn't have the time anymore bc of his larger snakes. After a hellish start w them and a mite battle, she has blossomed but still has moments that concern me about her previous health. My goal with her is to get her to optimum condition bc she is a fabulous snake. As is Abigail, who was presented as a Colombian/red tail 'hybrid'. She came a week before Mushu and immediately stole our hearts and especially my mom's before I even got my hands on her. She is beautifully healthy and affectionate and a gem. She eats well, taking 5 mice in her first feeding. I had trouble with Mushu and finally got her to eat one mouse in her tank after failing to get a response in the feeding tub. This was before the mite issue. I'm one week past the mite war and will feed them again soon as my research suggested that feeding needed to wait until 1-2 weeks post-treatment. During the endless hours searching for how to fight mites, I became aware that these 2 aren't simply the breeds that I thought. Even more searching has me perplexed so here I am hoping to have some input. So... Hi lol
