i put both males back into their own tanks after a week,to feed the female etc

after they digest, they all go bak together,i will keep trying until the end of April

re Diamonds
Diamond males don't combat like other Carpets,it's only Diamonds i would put more than one male in with the female at the same time during breeding season

i would not do this with my other carpets

Just because i dont know much...is there any particular reason diamond males wont combat like the rest of the carpets?

Best wishes with your breeding project Shauny. Those are beautiful diamonds you have. The males may not be combative but could the other male's presence cause some stress? Maybe each male could have some one on one time with the female as opposed to a group setting. Or am I just old fashioned? :)

ive heard theories that because they are a true cold weather python,it's an energy saving thing,in the wild they politely form a que to conserve energy...

i honestly don't know if there is any truth in the energy saving, but they don't combat in the wild...

what i do know is,if you put 2 jungle, coastal or jag, males together during breeding season they will combat..

i have tried this personally and seen combat

just gotta love Diamonds...

such interesting beautiful beasties they be :D

ive tried each male in separately and got nothing,so my thinking was one male may inspire the other, to try it on with the female

at first the Gosford male used to go hide in the females cool end hide, and at night they all chose their own spots...

non locale male under a log beside the basking area

female in her nesting box,mid way in the tank

Gosford male cool end hide

re basking
the Gosford used to sit high up a branch where the hot air would rise and be at it's hottest

the female and non locale male used to bask together

after a week, all 3 bask intertwined together on the same spot, directly under the basking light

so at first i think the Gosford male was unsure, but now both males bask and interact with each other and the female

my non locale male is about to shed,so the Gosford male will be in with the female on his own, until a few days after the other male sheds, then they're all going in together...

ALL 3 have been taking prey since i brought them out their cooling cycle in January, never missed a feed

i have 4 or 5 years to wait on this wee girl being up to size, for breeding

re my other 3 Diamonds breeding
i think it's my 2008 female that's playing up,as the males seem keen
