I've been noticing that the centres of some of my Okeetee's scales have been getting quite a bit darker than the rest. These darker-tinted scales form two lateral stripes that run almost the entire length of her body. It gives her an interesting almost a "burnt" or even "pixelated" look.

Anyone else seen this colouration in Okeetees before? She's apparently a locality (Jasper County) Okeetee, not a selectively bred morph.

She just shed a few days ago so now you can really see it.

I would've taken some better pictures, but she bit me for the first time last night and has been a bit agitated with me today so I didn't want to stress her too much.

Interesting! Are those stripes something that has appeared gradually, or has she always had them?

Thanks! I think so too. :)

Gradual. Here is a picture of her I took last year. As you can see, she didn't have them then.

I've seen some pics of Okeetee corn snakes that were tan or light brown rather than orange called buckskins. Time will tell.

I like them when they have that dirty color to them. Natural is beautiful.
