Poor little Loki, i have had to clean his eye every day for about a week (Had some discharge from his eye). After that he refused to eat for quite some time, as he stressed out when he saw me... His eye is mostly healed up now, still a bit dirty but i'm confident this will clear up on its own. After a bit of rest and trying to offer food a few times, he finally ate again 4 days ago! It's all looking up for him, he only gained 120 grams since i bought him last year, not unhealthy yet, but a tad disappointing. If he keeps eating now he should gain more weight soon! Hope he won't be my 'problem child' any longer and will make some progress rapidly. Here are a 2 quick mobile phone pics i took when i checked on him earlier today.

So glad to hear he's doing better for you and now eating, he is an absolutely beautiful burm :)

Thanks both! I am really glad he finally decided to like food again. He is so easily stressed, and when he even has the slightest amount of stress he won't eat. Have decided once i have finished the first tub on top i'll move him there so he will have a bit more peace and quiet while i work on the others. Hopefully he will keep eating :)

He sure is a beauty, i really love this pattern mutation. I hope he will grow up big and strong, idk what it is with me and labyrinths. The last one i had died prematurely at 1,5 years old because something was seriously off in its head. This one seems normal and healthy, just a Little sensitive!

I've been pretty busy as of late and I haven't been around for these updates. This is news to me. So sorry to hear you had some trouble with Loki, very unusual for a burm, no?

I'm glad he's doing better. I'm sure he'll bounce back, the handsome little fella.

He wouldn't eat again yesterday, left the food in his tub throughout the night and nothing. This morning i was doubting whether to take it out or give him some more time, i tempted him a bit with feeding thongs and left as soon as he came out looking. When i got back from home later he had eaten it! Couldn't be happier, still wish he wasn't such a difficult eater though. He is so incredibly shy, nothing like the average Burmese.

my voldemort is a shy snake great eater, I read that retics and burmees were not as shy as ball pythons, or is this reading wrong.Glad he ate though.

Not every retic is the same, just like not every burmese python is the same. :) A burmese python this shy is a first for me in my care, but it's not unheard of. Retics are sometimes shy/nervous at a younger age, but usually outgrow it later. Loki might outgrow this behaviour too.

Tsubaki, I missed out on the reason he is having eye trouble, what happened?

Tsubaki

He bumped his eye leaving a little scratch, n it got a bit irritated because he kept rubbing it against a rock. Removing the rock and salving his eye healed it right up though, one more shed and i suspect it will be gone completely :D He doesn't rub it anymore.

Felt like i should update this, Loki has been eating a lot better than he has before. His eye has healed 100%, can't even see which one it was anymore. The last few feeding he actually accepted food from the thongs! He has a bit of catching up to do, he is only around 4feet and he is from oktober last year. I hope he keeps eating even though i Had to move him to a different tub for a while (because i'm building rockwalls in the tubs).

Anyway, here is a mobile phone shot of him earlier today.

Thanks Albert, hope his troubles are over. Never expected him to be a real giant, but i do hope he's not going to be a runt either.
