So I've worked with venomous snakes since I was about 13. I never really felt the need to get my own since I had the pleasure of working with other peoples snakes, but I've recently got the hankering for some hot snakes but I'm having a hard time deciding so I figured I'd ask yall for your opinions. Being in Georgia I can only have native hots, so I'm kind of caught between copperheads, cottonmouths and Mexican cantils (the state doesn't restrict subspecies). So I'd like to know im terms of hardiness, captive-bred availability, breeding, and getting the young to take f/t mice.

Can't Keep Easterns? That's what I would want for a display animal. Cottonmouths have never had a lot of appeal to me other than the comical threat display.

I have kept all the mentioned snakes, and for hardiness and eating, I would go with Cotton Mouth. My Cotton Mouths will eat anything and are easy to keep.

By Easterns I'm assuming you mean diamondbacks? I plan on having some in the future but those will be farther down the road. And thanks for your input Ssssnakes. I really love the looks of all 3 snakes so this is what the decision comes down to for now. After I get some more space hopefully I can have all 3 in the collection. Are there any difficulties breeding wise with cottonmouths? And also do you know of any breeders? I've seen a couple pics of albinos floating around as well and I wouldn't mind having one.

Try Tom Crutchfield, I bet he has some Cottonmouths around. AZ is the same and we can only keep native species of venomous minus the four protected Crotalus species protected by the state. I have looked at Tom Crutchfields available list and found the few Crote species Im wanting to keep in case I decide to buy and not to collect. I would give him a try for any of the three you mentioned.
