Been waiting to get this guy for over a month, the weather finally cleared up so here he is! Pure Kalatoa SD retic, pictures aren't the greatest because I didn't want to disturb him too much. Turns out he's in shed so he'll be looking even better pretty soon here!

Thanks! He's a neat little guy, I expected him to be a bit angry and bitey when he came out of the bag, but he just sat there and looked at me. He's even come out a few times today!

Thanks Steve! He shed today, not sure if he got all of it because it was in tatters. Debating on whether to wait to feed or feed and then try to inspect him for eye caps, etc.

Me too, I definitely prefer normals over anything. Can't wait for him to get big!

Thanks Ziggy! He's definitely something new for me, he took his first meal for me today! It's going to be interesting trying to help him get his stuck skin off in a few days.

Thanks Dave! :)
He took his first meal last night, caught him perched this morning! As you can see his first shed didn't go too well, but I fed him anyways in hopes it would help calm him enough to let me look him over in a couple days.

Awesome little guy, i love how big their heads are compared to body when they are that little. cant get enough of those orange eyes!
for sheds and feeding i have a large plastic tub in my cage for my girl and will fill it with hot water(85-90F) she loves to swim and soak in there after a meal and during sheds.

Good looking little Kalatoa there. Males typically top out under 6 ft.

Under no circumstances should you be feeding a retic in anything other than it's enclosure. With their intense feeding response and their ability to grow to quite large sizes you're putting yourself at great risk for a feeding response bite.

Kyle I think you skimmed that last post. Hesaidthe tub was inside his cage. No me til. Of feeding outside of the cage.
Your kala is beautiful Adrian. Looks almost exactly like my male.

Thanks guys! I'm very happy with him. He's been out perching a lot, I love it. Bought him a pack of 4 small mice today for $10, I cannot wait to buy some food in bulk because thats outrageous...
Here's his set up. I've added some smaller hides since this pic was taken, and am probably going to move the waterbowl to the warm side once he settles in a bit more.

That setup looks great Adrian. That's a lucky little kalatoa. Now prepare to not experience the extremely fast growth Retics are known for... My male is still tiny compared to when my female was his age.

Thanks! I'm sure the branch is going to make it a pain to clean in there but I suppose we'll deal with that later. I lol'd at that last part, guess that makes the bulk food a lot better! I planned on buying 25 rat pups and 80 or 100 weaner rats for all 3 snakes.
