Hello Everyone,
I am from Australia and new to the world of snakes as pets. Living in Queensland I have had the opportunity of coming into contact with quite a few snakes in the wild and have always been respectful of their place and the important role they play in our ecosystem. Never ever considered having a snake as a family member though! Despite my trepidation we have recently bought our first python home, a young Anteresia Maculosa (spotted python) that I called Sunshine. Not sure of the sex but I will refer to Sunshine as a he. He is a blonde and he is just a lovely little fella. Was a bit tense and bitey at first which is to be expected of course but given some space, time and patience he has grown quite confident. He is feeding and shedding well and seems unpreturbed now when I pick him up and take him out of his house for a wander. I just wanted to share my happiness with people that appreciate snakes and can understand how much I am enjoying every moment I get to spend with him. :D
