Newbie. Help with IBD

I think my BP might have IBD. I also know there isn't anything you can do about it.

I just like to know more about it, how long will the snake live with ibd and how to help him ect.

Please any help is good help.

I have a baby albino male that isn't 4 months old and I found him laying up side down yesterday. Picked him up and put him down on his bell or the right way he should be and so far his did not flip back. He did feel a bit stiff but wast moving his tail.

I can go no with details but I think if you guys ask me questions, I'll answer them.

Welcome to the forum. I merged your two threads since they were in the same section. I'm really sorry to hear about your snake. Unfortunately I don't have the answer to your question but I'm sure someone that does will see the thread and give you an answer.

For clarification do you mean you have a burmese python (python Bivitatus) or a Ball/Royal python (python regius)? BP is typically what ball python is shortened to. I don't think I've ever seen it used for a burmese python.

I'm really sorry to hear that. IBD is highly infectious and unfortunately untreatable at this time. Before you get another snake I would make sure to completely disinfect or get rid of anything your snake may have come into contact with. I would also wait a few months as it can linger.

Thanks for the replys, is there a way to test a baby snake for ibd for burmese python, really would like to own 1 again but not willing to see it die again at a young age.

Sorry to hear. I actually had my whole collection wiped out by IBD back in the early 90"s. Back then i didn't even think about quarantining my snakes. I had just gotten and new Red tail Boa. With in a couple weeks i started to see signs in one of my Ball pythons. It couldn't hold it's head up. It would tip over if it tried to climb. As it progress it body slowly kinked up. In less than a week it was dead. It hit python harder and faster than boas.(boas can be carriers) In under a month all my snake died. The boa that had it was the last to show signs and die. Some of the snakes would get the shakes. Just a nasty nasty thing. Who ever you got the snake from probably don't have any other snakes left alive.
