Bp eating behaviors

I'm just curious- what's your bp's eating habits? Here's what marshall does: first, he checks it over, rubs on it, licks it, pushes it around, this can go on for a while. He also is easily distracted by the tongs. Sometimes he seems more interested in the tongs then the food lol. He used to strike because I fed him a couple live ones, but now he's as gentle as my dog when taking food. Slowly reaching out, grabbing it, and slowly going back into his cave. Sometimes he goes tail first, sometimes sideways and sometimes takes the head. What quirks and preferences do your guys have?

Well mine is a corn but sounds a lot like yours!

She comes out and sniffs, nuzzles, pushes the mouse around and then finally decides yup it's food I should eat it! She gently (hasn't struck out) takes the head into her mouth and just lays there to eat it.

My girl is a little strange. She strikes, constricts, the looks it over, then drags it through her water dish to get rid of any dirt, then eats it and then washes the dirt out of her mouth. She rinses it in her water everytime. so dainty.

Haha they are very cute. If I'm watching him eat he will wait to see if I leave, and if not he just turns away from me

That's funny! I only wiggle it slightly, if I wiggle it too much he gets scared, so I just make it "quiver" and if he's being fussy I make it "run"

Yeah if I just hold it there she sort of just looks at it, so i wiggle it a bunch at the end of the tank and she comes a slithering in.

then i just sort of sway it back and forth and make sure shes locked on..

I make the Mouse "walk" around her cage for a little bit, she's usually sleeping (it's daytime when I feed) and will pop her head out of her hide. She's a boa and I've tried leaving the food in there, and she sat on it but didn't consider it food. So I have to make it look alive. She'll hunt it down in the bushes in her cage and grab it from like a foot away, I usually continue to manipulate the rat to make it seem like it's fighting back. This seems to get her excited because she'll throw her whole body on it and start breaking bones, I hear it ever time haha!

I just love the aggresion with her feeding. My snow corn will just move over to it, put it in his mouth and drag it back to his hide. i've even put the food in a tree in his cage and he took it down and took it home to consume, I find it sooo funny that he refuses to eat publicly!

Yes it's so hilarious how they are very private about eating. My guy will not eat in a separate container, only in his cage. I think this is because in a separate enclosure there is no heat or hide, which means no where nice to digest. Fussy!

Yup same here I tried feeding in a separate container and nope wouldn't even look at the food. Feed her in her viv and bingo took it within 3 minutes

Yeah same. Sometimes Marshall gets lazy, in fact just the other night I was feeding him and he sniffed the mouse and then curled up and went back to sleep! Well I ended up getting him out of his warm cozy hide and then he ate.... Too lazy for food? My goodness😒
