We went to the Frederick reptile show last Saturday. Not sure if the weather was a factor but it was pretty small, but we did pick up a couple new snakes. This one is a yearling Everglades rat snake, still showing some faint patterns under the orange if you look closely. Very docile critter, probably around 2.5' and looks well fed. Will get more and better pics when the opportunity arises. I've found that snakes like Cichlid Stones much better than the fish they were originally bought for, lol.

Me too, sunrise orange with a bright yellow belly. Way back in the 80's I saw a picture of an Everglades rat snake in a book. Asked about at the local pet shops, but they couldn't find one, and eventually I saved up enough cash for a young red tail boa.

Thanks all; was a tough choice between the rat or a bull, but I've always liked orange, lol. Now I'm wondering what the chances are my corn may be a male, and if they'd cross? Surely not more difference in those 2 species than the king/milk hybrids I've seen. She doesn't seem to be as shy as the corn, less than a week here and she's usually found sitting out in the open rather than tucked up inside a shelter or burrowed under the substrate like the corn. I keep resisting the temptation to pick her up though, want to let her settle into the new enclosure and become even more comfortable first.

I wouldn't cross them. Lines are already muddled as it is and hybrids hardly have the value people think they would. Then when someone can't move them people become tempted to lie and sell them as something they aren't. Corns and Everglades aren't that expensive just buy a male everglades and breed that to your girl. And a female corn to your corn.

Not actually intending to cross them, just got to wondering what the offspring would look like if they did breed. Corn is actually unsexed, and there are already too many corns looking for homes w/out making more.

Apparently they look like this, if this is indeed an Everglades x Corn.

Ah, but how old is that one? I still see similar markings/pattern on my yearling, but they're fading as she grows. Hatchling Everglades look similar to that as well.
