Ok so just wondering how you guys would make the hide in the attached picture slightly more cozy for a baby corn snake? I don't want to use Aspen chips when he/she is super small so would you just not pack it with anything? Would you put something else in? Ripped up newspaper perhaps?

Give me some ideas!

Take a piece of cardboard and bend it to a house formation with a little entrance,or take little blocks of wood and nail them together but of course dont leave any metal sticking out, theres plenty of hides at the pet store snakes love too.as long and its dark and isnt really big compared to them theyll be happy.

Toilet paper & paper towels work well for very small snakes

Yup, toilet paper rolls, or small plastic flower pots turned upside down with a small door cut in it. If the pot is too big or tall, cut a couple of inches off the open end to make the diameter smaller and shorter.

You can bend that hide, right? If so, just give him less headroom.

Get a coconut at your local grocery store. Cut it in half and remove the coconut meat and cut a hole shaped like an upside down U in the edge of the coconut shell, then place that inside the hide. She will feel secure in the tight space within the coconut until she gets large enough to fill up the large hide. I have hides of all sizes for my snakes ranging in size from half coconut shells to large snapping turtle shells. Just one other option...

Sweet! I'm getting a closed in bought hide from the pet store but I was looking for other options as well to make the tank unique, I like the coconut idea!

Easiest way to do this is with a hole saw. Drill the hole first then cut it in half. Made about half a dozen of those before I figured out the easy way lol

Lol Ya I can imagine it would be hard the first time. Last question has anyone dealt with BHBReptiles? That's where I'm thinking of getting the snake, do you know if they ship to Canada? I've sent them a message but I'm just curious

Dont know them myself but there are plenty of places to get them within Canada because getting anything across the border is a royal pain.

I got my girl from BHB. I actually called them to ask questions first, then make the order. They were awesome and should I want to get another snake and am unable to find it at a show, I will definitely order from them again. As for shipping to Canada...no clue. If you want to make a call though, I'm sure they would be more than happy to answer your questions.

A baby corn will hide in the substrate, under it's water dish. Use aspen and a water dish.

I contacted them already and to ship to Canada I need an order of at least $4000. Lol. I just want one snake, that's a far cry from that amount, but I have heard wonderful things about them!

Not saying its an excuse. And he isn't involved in BHB. Completely different people. My bad, but you called it out (incorrectly) first, no? I didn't want anyone else to see that and think someone did something that actually wasn't them.

One thing I've found that works good and is cheap is the coconut hut I use one from an old hermit crab tank currently for my corn snake he seems to enjoy it very well. I also have a store bought hide rock shown in the image which is setting on top of the heating pad and full of damp moss should he need a hot damp little place to relax. He's always found under the hut or in the rock 90% of the time.

Cool my setup is really similar to that, same closed hide just a bit smaller right now. Then I have a curved "open" as I call them hide like the one you have in the center.

Since I just brought her home she's hiding in the closed one :)
