This is my tame adult nile monitor. I'm am not sure of his exact weight but he is 5 ft and would be 6ft with his whole tail.

I purchased this nile a few years ago. I paid the full price including gas to bring him down from Cali and when The guy showed up with this nile I was shocked to see the poor condition he was in. No toes and pretty scarred up.

He is now extremely healthy and tame. He is a free roam nile because he has no toes so he can't climb or dig. He spends most of his summer days in the pool.
He has an amazingly tame attitude and has no feeding response towards me.

Very cool. I love big, calm monitors. What is that in the last picture? A deer?

How big do the Cavys get? I would be nervous about the monitor turning it into a meal at that size.

Thank you all, I really appreciate the positive feed back!

The size varies, this one is about 20lbs. They can be much larger and much smaller. That nile litterly has no feeding response. My house cat and nile are always sitting in the shade together and it's like they have no idea there next to each other.

Cavies make wonderful pets! They are extremely playful and can have amazing personalities. They can learn many tricks, like standing on there hind legs and walking on command. My old one used to use the dog door and walk inside to see every one.

I don't get it? Do you not think they come from breeders and that they are all imported? Because the majority that I've seen are captive bred.

Thank you, much appreciated!

Niles have always been one of my favorite monitors. I got my first one in a trade with my teacher and that definitely planted the seed!

Ya I really miss mine. He was by far my favorite to the point I have him tattooed over my right shoulder.

Wow I'd love to see this tattoo.

Sorry you lost your nile, I know when mine goes it's going to be a bad day.
Usually when something dies, it's never fun but not dinilitating. With some animals tho it can be extremely tuff to deal with, epesially when it's an animal that one you loved cas it feels that much more alone afterwards

Exactly. It came across sarcastic which I find humorous. Nothing against you.
